A new chapter begins! Life has a way of continuing the story even when one chapter comes to an end. Today, I begin a new one at Bupa Group, joining as Head of Engineering at Bupa Capability Centre (BCC), India. And what a warm welcome from the BCC team! Whenever we start something new, we bring assumptions, experiences, and a collection of things we know—and many things we don’t. A new beginning is also an opportunity to pause, learn, unlearn, and look at familiar problems with fresh eyes.

Farewells are never easy. I have written many times by the change, and this change was meant to happen too. Today, one big, incredible chapter of my life came to an end. Eight years of Thoughtworks — eight years of people, learning, experiments, failures, friendships, conversations, ideas, challenges, and countless memories. Yes, it was an emotional day, but I kept reminding myself, every ending is also a beginning. So rather than looking it as a goodbye, I want to look back for a moment and simply say thank you.

It was more than eight years ago when I was looking for a change, that led me to an organisation whose name was relatively unknown to me at the time, but its interview process left a lasting impression. People around me who knew it, made me realise where exactly I was landing—the microservices concepts I had been talking about all the time, the Agile practices we were trying to live, XP, and even the Selenium and Martin Fowlers of the world.

Recently, I got an opportunity to meet fellow thoughtworkers and leaders in person again at Thoughtworks. After the experiences I reflected on My ICU Time!, this meetup felt especially meaningful. One of the central themes of our discussions was AI/works™-Thoughtworks’ agentic development platform, and how it is changing the way we think about software development, collaboration, and even the meaning of “work” itself. As the conversations unfolded, I realized something deeply interesting.

It’s been more than eight years since I joined Thoughtworks—a company known for sharing practical, experience-driven insights on technology and business with the world. Thoughtworks has long stood for doing what works in the real world. From its contribution to the Agile Manifesto—which reshaped how software is built to be more adaptive, collaborative, and customer-centric—to continuously sharing learnings from the field, the focus has always been on outcomes, not theory.

Thoughtworks is celebrating its 30th year in industry, and I have completed five years here, and to celebrate this, I have compiled thoughts from thoughtworkers, and published them as an ebook. I am grateful for the wealth of knowledge and experiences shared by my colleagues. These thoughts have resonated with me and shaped my journey within the organization and life. I am excited to launch the ebook with this post.

Recently I shared an article on my life lessons from my father’s work life, and mentioned that I dedicated a new home to my father’s work life, also promised that I will share some corporate lessons learned from making-over this new home. I can well relate my takeaways to the corporate experiences such as vendor selection, negotiation, solutioning, estimation, prioritization, agility and being a trusted partner and many more.. As I keep saying “we learn every day in all situations of life, good or bad”

I started thinkuldeep.com keeping in mind that we learn every day in all situations of life, good or bad. Our learning matures by sharing, we explore more of us by giving it away to others. Recently my father turned 60, and has retired from government services. 60 years full of life is a quite big experience, where around 38 years he spent in serving the same Govt of Rajasthan. We can learn a lot from his life, especially the younger generations who are behind the money and super-fast growth, and change jobs every few years or months.

Recently, I have been invited to share my 3 years Thoughtworks Journey, at “Impact Series” by Social Change Group TW, India. “Striving for positive social change is at the heart of our purpose, culture and work” — /thoughtworks I believe an impactful change is the change that changes you, and any social change start from within, our own journey. I shared my change journey, and received number of comments, and feedbacks.

It’s now two years since I accepted a challenging change to leave the previous organization after 13 long years, and join ThoughtWorks. Any change requires sacrifices and dedication before it becomes a positive change, but the journey becomes easy when we believe in the change and accept it. A change introduces us to a new environment and enables new thoughts, and new energy. The two years journey at ThoughtWorks is no different.
